COTABATO CITY – The officials and members of the Peace, Public Order, Safety and Security Committee (PPOSSCom) convened on Thursday, March 9, 2023, to hold the committee’s first regular meeting for calendar year 2023 held at the BPDA Conference Hall 2, Bangsamoro Government Center, this city.

Abdul Rahman Macapendeg, who represented Minister Hussein P. Muñoz, committee chairperson and minister of the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS), presided the said meeting together with Engr. Kadil A. Sulaik, Director for Research Development and Special Projects Bureau, who represented Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, committee co-chairperson and director general of the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA).

The said meeting highlighted the committee’s approval on the application of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD-BARMM), Bureau of Immigration-BARMM District, and Office for Other Bangsamoro Communities to its roster of members.

Among the agreements passed by the committee is the drafting of a “Resolution to review the settings of barriers/roadblocks/warning signs of all military and police checkpoints established in the BARMM” and a “Resolution declaring communist terrorists persona non-grata in the BARMM.”  These two resolutions will ensure the safety of motorists passing the military and police checkpoints and would help weed off the communist terrorists operating in the region.

Also present were representatives from the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG), Ministry of Indigenous People’s Affair (MIPA), Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC), Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC), Police Regional Office – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR), National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM-BARMM), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-BARMM), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI-BARMM), Coast Guard District (CGD-BARMM), Bangsamoro Rapid Emergency Action and Disaster Incidence (READi), and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP-BARMM).

As the committee’s technical secretariat, the PPOSSD Division of the BPDA will prepare the said resolutions that will be forwarded by the committee to the BEDC for its review and approval.  (𝑀𝑎𝑟𝑦 𝐿𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑎 𝐿𝑎𝑜-𝐿𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑜𝑠𝑎 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑟𝑒𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑠 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝐺𝑖𝑙 𝑀. 𝐶𝑎𝑚𝑏𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑜)
