TWG expansion proposed in RLUC’s first regular meeting

COTABATO CITY – The Regional Land Use Committee (RLUC), a special committee under the Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council (BEDC), discussed the proposed resolution for the expansion of its technical working group (TWG) during the committee’s first regular meeting for the year 2023 held Tuesday, March 7 at the BPDA Conference Hall 2, Bangsamoro Government Center, this city.

The proposed expansion of the TWG members intends to provide technical support in the formulation of the Bangsamoro Spatial Development Framework (BSDF) and the review and updating of the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP) of the provinces in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Abdullah M. Cusain, BARMM Assistant Senior Minister and presiding chairperson who represented Senior Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua, said that the functions and responsibilities of the proposed members for the ‘RLUC Expanded TWG’ must be clearly defined to identify the extent of support that will be provided to the said committee.

With the proposed expansion of TWG members, the representatives from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS), Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Regional Office-BARMM, Bangsamoro Rapid Emergency Action and Disaster Incidence (READi), Bangsamoro Pilgrimage Authority (BPA), and Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) expressed their full commitment in providing technical support needed by the said committee.

Engr. Casana B. Mandal, head of RLUC secretariat and chief of the Local Planning and Coordination Division (LPCD) of BPDA, shared that the Strengthening Institutions and Empowering Localities Against Disasters and Climate Change (SHIELD) Consortium are providing support to the BPDA and RLUC in the ongoing formulation of the BSDF which includes workshops, writeshops, mapshops, and stakeholders’ consultation.
