COTABATO CITY – Officials and members of the Regional Land Use Committee, one of the special committees of the Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council (BEDC), convened on Wednesday, October 6, for this year’s fourth regular meeting to discuss issues and concerns pertaining to ‘land use’ in the Bangsamoro region.
Engr. Al Kashmir Y. Ko presided the said meeting, who represented Bangsamoro Director General Engr. Mohajirin T. Ali, committee co-chairperson and head of the secretariat.
As the head of the technical secretariat, BPDA presented to the committee the BEDC Resolution No. 16 that was duly approved by the Council last September 2, 2021, signed by Ahod B. Ebrahim, BEDC Chairperson and BARMM Chief Minister.
Said resolution provides for the creation of sub-committee on Regional Solid Waste Management (RSWM) under the RLUC to provide support in the implementation of the Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 was presented to the committee.
The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE), Chairperson of the sub-committee, presented their proposed activities and programs which include the creation of the RSWM Technical Working Group (RSWM TWG) and capacity building initiatives for its members.
On the deliberation and approval process of the proposed BARMM Solid Waste Management Plan, the said sub-committee shall be responsible to assist in the formulation, review, monitoring, assessment and approval of the solid waste management plans of the local government units (LGUs) in accordance to the sub-committee’s rules and regulations.
Moreover, the Ministry of Human Settlement and Development (MHSD) discussed their proposed action plan including trainings for the TWG and succeeding activities for the review and approval process of the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plans (PDPFP) and Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) of the cities, municipalities and provinces in the Bangsamoro region.
In his message, MHSD Director General Esmael W. Ebrahim underscored that moral governance is far better than good governance, making the BARMM unique from other government.
“BARMM is the proof of the blood, sweat and life of our brothers (muhajidin) who fought for our goal. We are not just responsible to our immediate bosses but we are much responsible to Allah swt, our creator,” he stressed. (BPDA-BARMM)
