The 1st Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council (BEDC) Regular Meeting for CY 2020, was successfully conducted yesterday, June 5, 2020, 2:00 PM at the Bajau Hall, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Council Meeting which was earlier scheduled in the first quarter of the CY 2020 was made possible via actual attendance and online participation. Members from the local government units of the region were accommodated to participate via online, while the sectoral representatives, and those who are in the city opted to be present. Out of the 20 council members, nine (9) were in the meeting and nine (9) participated via online.
Among the important highlights of the event was the conferment of BEDC officials and members by the chief minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim, Al-Hadj, who then took their oaths. Other significant matters discussed included the adoption of the 1st BDP 2020-2022 and its endorsement to the Parliament, and approval and adoption of guidelines and procedures for selection of private sector representatives who will fill in the 25 member composition of the BEDC. Equally important matters were presentation of the 1st Bangsamoro Development Plan 2020, presentation and adoption of the official BEDC logo, and other matters concerning the planning and programming of projects and strategies for the region.
The activity successfully ended with high hopes that with this Council in place, moral governance is working for the Bangsamoro People.
